Right on the shore of Lake Achensee, at the historic Fischergut in Pertisau — one of the oldest farmhouses in the region — the Mountain Advent takes place every year. Between fire bowls, brass music and the smell of freshly baked Kiachln, this is one of the loveliest Christmas markets in Tyrol.

Christmas magic in the old farmhouse by the lake

The Fischergut is one of the oldest farmhouses in the region and sits right on the shore of Lake Achensee — an atmospheric setting for the Advent market. Among cosy stalls and rustic huts you will find regional specialities and traditional Tyrolean crafts, along with the famous Kiachln with sauerkraut. Several fire bowls provide warmth while brass music sets the Advent mood.

Programme for families

Christkindl area, music and children’s crafts

For the little ones there is a dedicated Christkindl area daily from 4 to 6 p.m.: writing letters to the Christkind, drawing, making tree decorations and decorating candles. Several craft stations invite you to join in. Music sets the mood daily at 5:30 and 6:15 p.m.

Dates worth noting

Perchten parade, St Nicholas and the children’s nativity play

A few dates are especially worthwhile: on 27 November at 5:30 p.m. the children’s Perchten parade moves through the Fischergut. On 6 December at 4 p.m. St Nicholas arrives at the Fischergut aboard the Achensee boat service. And on 19 December at 3:45 p.m. the Achenkirch theatre group performs its children’s nativity play.

Fun fact: St Nicholas arrives in style by boat — from 27 November to 20 December the Achensee boat service even runs its own Christmas cruise between several Advent markets on the lake.
